Cicada-Locust

The fully-winged adult cicada leaves behind its old empty nymphal skin behind on a tree trunk.

Is that a locust tree? Great photo, wonderfully unusual bark. I remember those little 'shells' when we were kids. We pretended they were the nymph stage of 'fairies'. smile.

Scroll down to about the 23 photo. This is a River Birch Tree. I find the tree so captivating and unique. It displays a light reddish brown cinnamon bark that peels and flakes to give that beautiful look that the birch family is noted for. I took the Cicada and placed it several places to photograph. I am so pleased you have enjoyed my photos.
